Privacy

When is privacy, privacy?

Facebook has become our first line of interface with the outside world is this a bad thing ?

No as long as we all remember that every interaction with that outside world may become public-no it can't I hear you cry I set all the privacy settings only my friends can see it

Wrong facebook sells your information to others it's analysis of what you write is stored

I have no real problem with this they are a business making money the accidental billionaire is reality. Capitalism you have a choice.

Just watch what you write don't put anything on facebook that you don't want to be made public, if you want a chat move to a I.M. Product. A simple search on google will find thousands of photos of stolen/hacked facebook accounts of people in compremising situations. Your computer stores your chats and can be seized for evidence.

I enjoy facebook it's a fantastic way of staying in touch, a fantastic fun use of modern computing, i am crap at remembering birthdays crap at making phone calls, i love playing silly little games.

Use it for this, but remember the pitfalls and for all my friends out there with children before you let them join are you really sure that they know what the difference is between public and private privacy yes there is a difference, do they understand what facebook is, it's a business and like all businesses they are there to make money, mark zuchenburg( wrong spelling?) is not altruistic he makes money. 400,000,000 million users and rising!!!!!

Lib con government

I for one is happy with the arrangments yhst have lead to this coalition

Ok for years I have detested what the Tories stand for

However time for change how can we change to open constructive government without constructive open debate that's what democracy is discussion agreement and compremise however this does not mean selling out or throwing a tantrum this is the first lesson we teach children how to share even if we don't want to or like our playmates

All those out there contmplating taking their toys away should consider the future it's not going to change unless we all change, both sides need to move for compremise to be reached

Where did the predictions go wrong?

I am not sure they did !!

At the time of writing the lib Dems are on 23% of the vote up on last time and the polsters have a 3% margin of error so that's around 26%.

Wednesday saw polls of 27% that's about spot on if you ask me.

It's to early to give any real comments but just a few thoughts of my own

The present voting system does not allow for a clegg effect

The Tories have learned how to fight our targeting system and as such counter it

People really want a change many of our mps have been in a while now

Politics needs a real shake up time to reconsider how we totally change our way of campaigning people don't read leaflets they watch facebook and web page portals and snippets of info whether on the box or Twitter

The poll I saw the other day showed a lot of support from the young and lower middle age excellent grounds for growth

We may still get a hung paliament and disapponting though it is we should revel in our position and really grab the opportunity if we are offered a chance of government swallow our pride and get on with the job

The Tories can now be seen for what they are have they really changed their spots or do they have a wolf body under those wooly coats.

Wantage is now officially a two horse race

I am paying my sub today and intend to fully reprise my membership older and wiser and with the benefit of time off to consider you may call it a time of reflection

I am sorry for those that worked hard and lost their seats many of whom have been friends for years most of all Evan I am truly upset for you all.

Alan well done in wantage

And finally I always said I will be back sorry to those who were happy to see the back of me!!

Heads held high let's take this real opportunity for change it's still there and I believe more obvious than it was on Wednesday if we use a little lateral thinking or should I say Liberal

25 years later

I have been a Lib Dem and b4 that a Liberal activist for some 25 years. This has been my first time watching from the wings in a GE as it were.

I was thinking how the world has changed, politics that long ago was not so much of a dirty word I was proud to stand up and be counted as a liberal and a social democrat even the paddy pants down jokes and in the late 80's name changes I could laugh along, I never felt that I ought to be ashamed of being a polititian I never kept my affliations to a party secret.

That was until a few years ago and you may blame it on maturity or maybe I got to close to the heart of Westminster but I got terribly disheartened with the whole process. I felt ashamed yes that is a strong word, of the antics of people with my own party as well as others, petty back stabbing, plotting behind the scenes, the appaling miss treatment of members and staff, so I made my excuses and left the party and politics as a whole.

So what has changed to make me consider a return, maybe I miss it or maybe I have be carried along with the sea of change, but politics must change not just nationally but locally the whole concept of campaigning must change and maybe it has, social media can outweigh years of entrenched old media, I have no intention of rejoining any party that has not and will not move forward. We stand today on the brink of a new era in politics, social politics, politics for the people, where normal people get a say. Stop looking back at the past mistakes that have been made accross the board, time to work together for a new future fit for the 21centuary. I for one want to take part.

In bed

If the lib Dems could not fundermentally get into bed with the Tories this does not mean they could not if need be to form part of a government. For this would be the will of the electorate.

Fundermentally I don't beleive in private air flight though if I were rich and famous and for personal security this was needed I may have to do I something I fundermentally disagreed with. What is the difference.

Election 2010

Is it just me or are the media and old school party hacks from the tories and labour, floundering around as Nicks performance last week has thrown the whole process open.

Are they desperate to see what happens this week before they jump of the fence and come up with line they can all stick with.

This is the first GE for 23 years I have been able to take a back seat and watch the media not being closely connected with the campaign. Even with the foot and mouth debarkle the election was not knocked off the top spot then why so this volcano story.

I may be wrong but I have a real sense that there may be a sea change at long last, for years I have been banging on about websites and email use in elections stepping away from traditional campaigning methods and social networking/blogging have now really come into their own with news stories moving faster than the traditional media can keep up with, so maybe next time in 2015 we may not only have a new voting system, a new political map, a media reporting news
rather than stories created by themselves. I am encouraged that at long last British politics could be changing.

Unfortnately a week is along time in politics and a day is even longer in these social networking days, let's just hope the old school media and party hacks from the Tories and labour don't regain control and steer us back into oblivian

NHS Life

sitting here again in a hospital bed, well not so much sitting as lying in pain, oral morph is great though.

I thought for once I for once would praise the NHS the staff here are fantastic so much of a change over my first visit just over two years ago or have i got used to it, have i learnt the system. ASK if you want orange squash in your water for example you just ask and it appears. and the food if you want more then tick extra boxes.

Not sure i am being exactly socially acceptable but it seems to work.

So a big Yo goes out to the NHS here's to new improvements like waiting lists that are fair and equality, however, i do have an all mail ward this time.

Write more later

its all over

What a lot of hysteria about nothing again the press and BBC in particular have over hyped a mere smattering of snow and Ice. Yes in a few areas 6 inches of snow fell maybe even 8 but hey some countries that happens every day throughout the winter, here 1 day and its all over.

Why oh why do we have to make such an issue, when will our drivers learn, slow down, be careful and don't break hard, if its icy leave a big gap with the car in front and all will be ok

We had a row in our house this morning because 1 certain young lady did not want to go to school because she had been promised snow, until I pointed out that yesterday she went and there had been no more snow.

basically it is a load of old tosh and we need to wake up and smell the coffee it is not bad, the conditions are not treacherous just awkward Stop moaning and enjoy the snow, its pretty too look at and usually makes the sky look even more blue. Be happy you are alive.
